Tutapona in the Middle East
In 2016 Tutapona expanded operations to address the needs of refugees and IDPs (Internally Displaced People) in the Middle East. Our office is now based in Duhok, Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) with a team based in Khanke IDP Camp, and a mobile team addressing the psychosocial needs in the surrounding camps.
Our work has primarily been with the Yazidi people, a religious minority who have endured over 70 genocides against them, most recently at the hands of ISIS.
We are happy to report that our programs have resulted in a 40% reduction in trauma symptoms in our participants in the region.
